Open Question: Anyone get this neck soreness in aikido?
In iriminage, used with the elbow hooked under the chin and the forearm wrapped around the side of the head, some people tend to hold the head all the way to the ground, preventing the uke’s body from twisting to the side and break falling properly. The uke’s body twists, but the nage is holding the uke’s head, and so the neck muscles are strained. Also results in possible neck injury if the nage pulls up or doesn’t lower his arms to the ground with the fall.
Another result of people not knowing what they are doing in aikido?
